Rohit Sharma will be the captain of the Indian team in T20 World Cup 2024, BCCI Secretary Jai Shah announced – India TV Hindi

Jay Shah, the current Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has given a big statement regarding the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 to be played jointly by West Indies and America in the month of June this year. BCCI Secretary has made it clear that Rohit Sharma will be seen handling the responsibility of captaining the Indian team in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Jay Shah made this statement during a ceremony organized to mark the new naming of the stadium, a day before the start of the third Test match between India and England in Rajkot on February 14.

India will win T20 World Cup under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said during the event organized on the occasion of the new name of Saurashtra Cricket Stadium that we may have lost the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup, but we won hearts by winning 10 consecutive matches there. I am confident that India will win the 2024 T20 World Cup in Barbados under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. We will hoist the flag of India. During this programme, selection committee chairman Ajit Agarkar, Indian team head coach Rahul Dravid, apart from captain Rohit Sharma, Mohammad Siraj, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and some members of the Indian team’s support staff were also present there. Let us tell you that during the T20 series against Afghanistan in the month of January, Rohit took over the captaincy of Team India in this format after a long time and in the last match of this series, a brilliant century was also seen with his bat.

India and Pakistan will compete on June 9

The schedule of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 has already been released, in which India has been placed in the same group with Pakistan, Ireland, USA and Canada. While Team India has to play its first match against Ireland on June 5, the Indian team will face Pakistan on June 9 at the New York ground. Apart from this, America will be on June 12 and Canada will be on June 15.
