Ever since Sarfaraz made his debut, there have been continuous reports that he can also play IPL 2024. That means they had gone unsold, but now discussions have started again among the teams regarding this.

It is not that Sarfaraz Khan has not played IPL before. He has been in the squad of Delhi Capitals after debuting for RCB. However, he was not discussed much because he has not done any such feat in IPL. First let’s take a look at Sarfaraz’s IPL statistics. Sarfaraz has played 50 IPL matches so far and has 585 runs in his name. Here his average is around 22 and he has been batting at a strike rate of a little more than 130. In these 50 matches, Sarfaraz has been able to play only one half-century innings. His first match in IPL was in the year 2015.
Sarfaraz came at base price of Rs 20 lakh
This time too Sarfaraz had given his name in the IPL auction, but no team tried to take him with them. Whereas his base price was only Rs 20 lakh. Now let’s talk about how Sarfaraz Khan can play IPL. The auction is done, all the teams are ready. Now Sarfaraz can enter the IPL only if the team drops a player due to injury or any other reason. This way he can return to IPL, there is no other way.
Now it will go for at least Rs 50 lakh
Now let us tell you something special. When the IPL auction was held, the base price of Sarfaraz was Rs 20 lakh, because till then he had not made his international debut. But now he has become a capped player, so his minimum price will be Rs 50 lakh. He cannot be included in the team at a price lower than this. Now the interesting thing is that nine out of ten IPL teams have more than Rs 50 lakh left, but Rajasthan Royals is the only team which currently has a balance of Rs 20 lakh. This means that even if the RR team wants to bring a player worth Rs 20 lakh as a replacement, they will not be able to bring him because there is no money in their purse.
8 out of ten teams have squad of less than 25
The rule of IPL is that any team can include at least 18 and maximum 25 players in its squad. But out of 10 teams playing IPL, there are only 2 teams whose squad is not 25. KKR i.e. Kolkata Knight Riders currently has a squad of 23 players, while Rajasthan Royals has a total of 22 players. In such a situation, if the remaining 8 teams think of betting on him, then one player will have to be dropped, only then he can return. Although there is still about a month left in the IPL, it remains to be seen what happens in the future and whether Sarfaraz is seen in the IPL or he will have to wait.
