The Ranji Trophy 2023-24 season has now entered the knockout round, in which the Mumbai team is playing its quarter-final match against Baroda at its home ground. In the first day’s play, Mumbai team had scored 248 runs at the loss of 5 wickets. Mumbai had lost 4 wickets till the score of 99 in its first innings, after which Musheer Khan not only scored a century while handling the innings from one end but also worked to take the team to a strong position. At the end of the day’s play, Musheer Khan was unbeaten on 128 runs in 216 balls.
Great comeback by scoring a century in the comeback match
Musheer Khan was a part of the Indian team in the recently concluded ICC Under-19 World Cup, in which his excellent performance with the bat was seen. In domestic cricket, Musheer made his debut for Mumbai team at the end of the year 2022, but after playing in 3 matches, he managed to score only 92 runs. After this, he got a chance to play Ranji match with Mumbai team and he took full advantage of it and got the team out of a serious situation by scoring a century. This is Musheer Khan’s first century in any format in domestic cricket, which he completed in just 179 balls.
Prithvi Shaw and Rahane both disappointed
The bats of opening batsmen Prithvi Shaw and Ajinkya Rahane, who were out of the Indian team, could not show anything special during the first innings of the Mumbai team in this quarter-final match. While Shaw returned to the pavilion after scoring 33 runs in 46 balls, Rahane lost his wicket after scoring only 3 runs. In the first day’s play for Baroda, Bhargav Bhatt took 4 wickets while Ninad Rathav took 1 wicket.
