Even though this tour of India did not prove to be good for the England team, the biggest discovery of this tour for them will definitely be young spinner Shoaib Bashir. At the age of just 20, this bowler has impressed everyone with his performance. The magic of Shoaib’s spin was also seen in the Dharamsala Test match, in which he took 5 wickets while giving 173 runs in the first innings of the Indian team. This was Bashir’s second 5 wicket haul of his Test career. Earlier, he had achieved the first 5 wicket haul of his career in the fourth match of the same Test series. Bashir has also made a big record in his name on the basis of his performance.

Bashir became the first England player in this case

With Shoaib Bashir taking his second 5 wicket haul in the Dharamsala Test, he has become the first player for England to achieve this feat twice in Test cricket before turning 21 years of age. Before Bashir, three England bowlers had taken 5 wicket hauls once each in Test cricket before the age of 21, which include the names of James Anderson, Bill Vose and Rehan Ahmed. Shoaib Bashir got a chance to play 3 matches in this Test series in which he took 17 wickets at an average of 33.35. Bashir has become the second youngest bowler of England to take 5 wicket haul and achieved this feat at the age of 20 years and 133 days.

Made debut in first class cricket last year

Bashir made his debut in first class cricket in the year 2023 itself, in which he played his first match against Somerset team. Bashir has so far taken 22 wickets in 8 first class matches at an average of 48.36. Apart from this, he has also played 7 matches in List A format in which he has managed to take only 3 wickets. Apart from Bashir, Tom Hartley has taken 22 wickets for England in this Test series against India.
