20-year-old off-spinner Shoaib Bashir got a chance to debut in international cricket in the second match of the England team’s 5-match Test series against India. Bashir was selected in the England team for this tour and before coming to India, he was also with the team in a 10-day training camp in Abu Dhabi. However, due to not getting his Indian visa on time, he was not able to join the team in the first test match. Now Bashir has for the first time given his reaction on the incident of delay in getting visa after the end of the first day of Visakhapatnam Test match.

I knew I would get the visa

Shoaib Bashir, in response to a question asked during the press conference after the first day of the second Test regarding the delay in getting the visa, said that there is no doubt about it, I knew that I would get the visa. There was some difficulty in it but we are playing here and I have made my debut. I knew everything would be fine and I would like to thank the England and Wales Cricket Board and the Indian Cricket Board for resolving this matter very quickly. Let us tell you that in the first day’s play, Bashir bowled 28 overs in which he gave 100 runs and also took 2 wickets in which he also made Indian captain Rohit Sharma his victim.

This day was very special for me

After the first day of Visakhapatnam Test match, Shoaib Bashir also gave a statement about his debut in which he said that this day was very special for me. Everything I have gone through in the last 2 to 3 years made it even more special. It feels great to take the first wicket in the form of Rohit Sharma. Rohit is an excellent player who is counted among those players in world cricket who are considered experts in playing spin bowling and getting his wicket is definitely very special for me.
