Vishmi Gunaratne became the second youngest Asian woman player to score a century in ODI.

Sri Lanka’s women’s team is currently on a tour of Ireland to play a 3-match ODI series to play the ICC Women’s Championship. The first match of this series was played on 16 August at the Belfast ground in which Sri Lankan women’s team’s young opening batsman Vishmi Gunaratne scored a brilliant century in the match. However, her century proved insufficient to give the team victory. Despite this, Vishmi definitely got her name included in a special list. Vishmi has now become the second youngest female player in Asia to have a record of scoring a century in ODIs.

Vishmi broke Smriti Mandhana’s record

Mithali Raj holds the record of scoring a century as the youngest Asian player in women’s ODI cricket, when she scored a century against Ireland women’s team in 1999 at the age of just 16 years and 205 days. Now Vishmi’s name has been included at number two in this list, who has achieved the feat of scoring a century in ODI at the age of 18 years and 360 days. Vishmi played an innings of 101 runs in 98 balls in the first ODI match of the series against Ireland, which included a total of 9 fours and 3 sixes.
