The first match of both the teams will be played on January 11. The Afghan team has been announced for the series against India. But a bad news has emerged for the Afghan team. It seems difficult for Afghanistan’s star player to play the entire T20 series against India.

Ibrahim Zadran has been made the captain of the Afghan team for the series against India. Under his captaincy, the Afghan team won the T20 series against UAE by 2-1. Afghanistan’s regular T20I captain Rashid Khan has been included. But he has not been made captain.
According to the Telegraph report, he cannot play a single match in the T20 series against India as he had undergone lower back surgery after the ODI World Cup 2023. He did not play for Adelaide Strikers this season. Apart from this, he was also not a part of the national team against UAE. It takes time to recover from a lower back injury. In such a situation, it is difficult for him to play the entire T20 series against India and he may be seen sitting on the bench.

Rashid Khan is counted among the best spinner bowlers. He has won many matches for the Afghan team on his own. When he is in his rhythm, he can dismiss any batsman. He has taken 130 wickets in 82 T20 matches for Afghanistan, which includes 2 wicket hauls. He has taken 183 wickets in 103 ODI matches.
