The third match of the 5-match Test series being played between India and England is being played on the grounds of Rajkot. In this match, Team India had decided to bat first after winning the toss. However, the Indian team lost the first three wickets till the score was only 33. This included the wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubhman Gill and Rajat Patidar. After this, Ravindra Jadeja came on the field to bat and he not only handled the innings with captain Rohit Sharma but also made a record partnership of 204 runs for the fourth wicket.

In the first two matches of this Test series against England, not a single century partnership was seen from the Indian team. Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja together broke a 39-year-old record by making a partnership of 204 runs on the first day of the Rajkot Test match. This is the third highest partnership for the fourth wicket by the Indian team in a Test match between India and England. Earlier in the year 1985, in the test match played at Chennai ground, a partnership of 190 runs was seen for the fourth wicket between Mohammad Azharuddin and Mohinder Amarnath.

First double century partnership for the fourth wicket at home in Test since 2019
This is the first double century partnership for the fourth wicket for the Indian team in Test cricket since 2019. Earlier, a partnership of 267 runs was seen between Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma for the fourth wicket in the Test match against South Africa in Ranchi.
