Ishan Kishan Wicketkeeping: The Indian team had to face defeat by 5 wickets in the third match against Australia. In the third match, Australia captain Matthew Wade won the toss and decided to bowl first. Batting first, India scored 222 runs. But due to Glenn Maxwell’s stormy century, the Indian team had to face defeat. In this match, Indian team’s wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan made 2 mistakes, due to which Team India lost.

Ishaan could not catch the ball properly

The Australian team needed 43 runs to win in the last two overs. Then captain Matthew Wade and Glenn Maxwell were present at the crease for Australia. Akshar Patel bowled the 19th over and only 10 runs could be scored on the first three balls of this over. With this, Team India’s victory seemed certain, but on the fourth ball, Ishan Kishan scattered the wickets and appealed for stumping. When the third umpire looked at the replays, it was clearly visible that Ishaan had collected the ball from in front of the wicket. Due to this, the umpire declared this ball a no ball and Australia got a free hit. Then Wade hit a six on the free hit. If Ishan had caught the legal delivery properly, India would not have had to concede 7 runs.

After this, Glenn Maxwell wanted to play reverse scoop on the last ball of the 19th over, but he missed. Ishan Kishan could not catch this ball and the ball went to the boundary line. This gave Australia four runs as a bye. The Australian team scored a total of 22 runs in the 19th over. It was because of his two mistakes that Australia’s victory was certain.

This is stated in the rules

As per MCC Law 27.3.1, the wicketkeeper must be completely behind the wicket at the striker’s end when the ball is bowled. Unless the ball bowled by the bowler touches the striker’s bat or batsman or crosses the wicket. The wicketkeeper will have to catch or stump from behind the wicket only. According to Rule 27.3.2, if the wicketkeeper violates the rule, the umpire will have to give no ball to the next ball.

Indian team lost

In the match against Australia, Ishan Kishan came to bat at number three, but he could not perform well with the bat and returned to the pavilion without opening the account. On the other hand, batsmen like Ruturaj Gaikwad and Tilak Verma batted excellently. Ishaan looked flop there. India gave Australia a target of 223 runs to win, which Australia achieved by losing five wickets. Glenn Maxwell scored 103 runs and Matthew Wade scored 28 runs for Australia.
