The auction process of players for the second season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) has started in Mumbai. In the first auction, 20-year-old Australian female player Phoebe Litchfield has been included in their team by Gujarat Giants for Rs 1 crore. Phoebe had registered herself in the auction at a base price of Rs 30 lakh. After this, there was a bidding war between Gujarat and UP Warriors team regarding her, in which in the end Gujarat Giants was successful in making Phoebe a part of their team. This young female player from Australia made headlines when she entered international cricket.
Phoebe won the title of Player of the Match in her debut match itself.
Phoebe Lichfield made her debut in international cricket at the age of 19 and won the title of Player of the Match in her very first match. In the match played between Australia and Pakistan, Phoebe got a chance to play as an opening batsman and she played an important role in helping the team win by playing a brilliant inning of 78 runs in 92 balls. In this match, Phoebe hit a total of 10 boundaries, which included 9 fours and 1 six. In the recently concluded Women’s Big Bash League season, Phoebe Litchfield was a part of the Sydney Thunders Women’s team and scored a total of 309 runs in 14 matches at an average of 28.09. Talking about Phoebe’s international career, she has scored 344 runs in 11 ODI matches at an average of 49.14, which also includes one century and 2 half-centuries. In five T20 matches, he has so far scored 99 runs at an average of 49.50.
Gujarat also made Meghna Singh a part of its team
In this auction, Gujarat Giants have to include a total of 10 players in their team, one of which is Phoebe Litchfield while the other player is Meghna Singh. In the last season of WPL, no team made him a part of it. Last season also his base price was Rs 30 lakh. Whereas Meghna played her last T20 International match in December 2022. Talking about Meghna’s performance in T20 International, she has taken only 4 wickets in 9 innings of 9 matches played so far at an average of 37.75 and economy of 8.16.
