India vs Afghanistan T20 Series: Before the T20 World Cup 2024, a series of three T20 matches is to be played between India and Afghanistan. This is India’s last T20 series before the T20 World Cup 2024. The Indian team is being led by Rohit Sharma and Afghanistan captain Ibrahim Zadran for the T20 series. This is the first bilateral series between the two teams and the first match of the series will be played on January 11 at Mohali ground. But now a star player is out of the IND vs AFG series.

According to media reports, Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid Khan has been ruled out of the T20 series against India. He was not completely fit. When the Afghanistan Cricket Board had selected the team, it had made it clear that there is suspense over playing in their playing eleven. Rashid had lower back surgery after the ODI World Cup 2023. Due to injury, he did not play for Adelaide Strikers. Apart from this, he also did not become a part of the national team against UAE. Now his exit has dealt a big blow to the team.

Rashid is the regular captain of Afghanistan. But for the series against India, Ibrahim Zadran has got the captaincy in his place. Zadran was also the captain against UAE. Rashid is one of the best bowlers of Afghanistan. The opposing batsmen have no answer to his googly. He has taken 130 wickets in 82 T20 matches for Afghanistan, which includes 2 wicket hauls. He has taken 183 wickets in 103 ODI matches.

The first match between India and Afghanistan will be played on January 11 at Mohali. So far, 5 T20 International matches have been played between the two teams, out of which India has won four. There is no result of one match. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have returned to the Indian team against Afghanistan. Both these players have got a chance to play in the T20 team after 14 months.
