England vs Australia: In the first ODI against England, Australia’s dashing opening batsman Travis Head wreaked such havoc that a flurry of records was broken. On the strength of Travis Head’s quick century, Australia not only chased the target of 316 runs successfully but also created a record by registering its 13th consecutive win in ODIs. Batting first at Trent Bridge in Nottingham, host England managed to score 315 runs in 49.4 overs on the strength of Ben Duckett’s 95 runs and Will Jacks’ 62 runs. The spinners bowled brilliantly for Australia. Adam Zampa and Marnush Labuschagne took 3 wickets each.

Head sets a new record

In reply to England’s score of 315 runs, Australia’s innings did not start well and they lost their first wicket in the form of Mitchell Marsh in the fourth over. However, after this Travis Head, while handling one end, along with Marnush Labuschagne, thrashed the English bowlers in such a way that the target of 316 runs was chased in just 44 overs.

Travis Head played an unbeaten innings of 154 runs in just 129 balls, raining fours and sixes, in which 20 fours and 5 sixes came off his bat. Due to this innings, he created new history. Actually, Travis Head scored more than 150 for the second time against England in ODIs. In this way, he became the first batsman in the world to score more than 150 against England in ODI cricket. This is Head’s best score in ODIs. Earlier, he played an innings of 152 runs against England in Melbourne in November 2022.

Rohit’s record broken

Not only this, Head also became the batsman to play the biggest innings while chasing a target in ODI in Nottingham. Earlier this record was in the name of Indian captain Rohit Sharma. Rohit played an unbeaten innings of 137 runs against England in July 2018 and led India to victory by 8 wickets.
