ICC has announced the January Player of the Month Award for the year 2024. A star player from West Indies has received this award. This player has given a stellar performance in January, for which he has now been rewarded. This player single-handedly led the West Indies team to Test victory in Australia after 1997. This player has played only two test matches so far, but this player won everyone’s hearts with his performance.

West Indies star fast bowler Shamar Joseph has received the ICC Player of the Month award for the month of January 2024. For the first time, a male cricketer from West Indies has won the Player of the Month award. Before Joseph, no male cricketer from West Indies had won this award. Joseph had made a explosive start to his career. He made his Test debut against Australia and created history by taking the wicket of Steve Smith on his very first ball.
Strong performance against Australia
It was because of Shamar Joseph that the West Indies team defeated Australia by 8 runs in the second test match. Joseph proved to be the biggest hero for West Indies in this match. He took 8 wickets in his name in the match and in the Gabba Test match, the Australian batsmen could not stand against him and were out. He received ‘Player of the Match’ and ‘Player of the Series’ awards for his excellent performance. He took a total of 13 wickets in the series against Australia.

Shamar Joseph has won the January Player of the Month award by defeating England’s Ollie Pope and Australia’s Jos Hazlewood. He has reached the pinnacle of his career after playing just two Test matches. So far, he has scored 57 runs in two Test matches while batting brilliantly at 8.50, and has also taken 13 wickets at a tremendous average of 17.30.
