PCB Chief told his plan regarding Champions Trophy
ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Champions Trophy 2025 will be hosted by Pakistan. Where the tournament will be played between 8 countries. Pakistan last hosted an ICC tournament in 1996. At that time Pakistan had hosted the ODI World Cup along with India and Sri Lanka. But whether the Indian team will tour Pakistan for this tournament is not clear yet. In such a situation, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has given a big statement on whether this tournament will be held outside Pakistan or not.
PCB chief told his plan
Amidst the ongoing speculation over India’s participation in the Champions Trophy, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said that he is not thinking of organizing the tournament outside the country next year. Speaking to reporters during the Pakistan Super League final, Naqvi confirmed that he had spoken to BCCI secretary Jay Shah during the ICC meeting in Dubai last week. Naqvi said that yes we had talked for some time but it would not be wise to give its details.
What will happen if Team India does not tour Pakistan?
Naqvi was asked whether the tournament would be organized in any other country if the Indian team does not tour Pakistan, he said that right now I am not even thinking of organizing the tournament in any other country. We are confident that we will host the Champions Trophy in Pakistan as per the schedule. On the other hand, an ICC board member had recently told PTI that he would not ask India to violate the government policy of not touring Pakistan.
PCB started preparations for Champions Trophy
Naqvi also said that the PCB is ready to deal with any situation as the competition approaches. Apart from this, he said that the stadiums of Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi will be renovated. Most of the Champions Trophy matches will be organized at these venues. India has not played a bilateral series in Pakistan since the Mumbai terror attacks in November 2008. The Indian team last came to Pakistan to play in the Asia Cup in June-July 2008. The Indian team had refused to tour Pakistan for the Asia Cup last year. Pakistan then hosted only four matches of this tournament and the rest of the matches were played in Sri Lanka.
