The team has won only one out of the 5 matches played so far. Now Gujarat Giants have suffered a big blow in the form of their star all-rounder Harleen Deol, who will not be seen playing in the remaining matches of the season due to injury. Gujarat Giants gave information about Harleen’s exclusion in their official statement in which they have included 29-year-old Bharti Fulmali in the team as a replacement player in her place.
Harleen Deol out due to knee injury
Harleen Deol injured her left knee while fielding during the match played between Gujarat Giants and UP Warriors in Bengaluru this season. After this she did not take the field again in that match. Harleen’s performance this season was also not much better and in 3 matches she managed to score only 48 runs at an average of 16. Talking about his replacement player Fulmali, she plays for Vidarbha team in domestic cricket, apart from this, in the year 2019, Fulmali has also played 2 T20 matches for the Indian team. The Gujarat team suffered two more major setbacks before the start of the season when uncapped fast bowler Kashvi Gautam was ruled out of the tournament due to injury. Whereas Australian player Lauren Chetley had withdrawn his name.
Sneh Rana’s injury a cause for concern for the team
Gujarat Giants team played without vice-captain Sneh Rana in its last 2 matches. When team captain Beth Mooney was asked about his fitness after the match against Royal Challenger Bangalore, she too had no information about Rana’s return. Gujarat Giants team is currently at the last position in the points table, in which the team has won only 1 after playing 5 matches. Gujarat team has to play its next match against Mumbai Indians Women’s team on March 9.
