New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Poland on 21-22 August. This will be the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Poland in 45 years. After this, he will also visit war-torn Ukraine. This is the first time an Indian Prime Minister is visiting Ukraine since diplomatic relations were established between the two countries in 1992. PM Modi will be formally welcomed in Warsaw, Poland. He will meet President Andrzej Sebastian Duda and hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

Apart from this, PM Modi will also meet the people of the Indian community living in Poland. After Poland, Prime Minister Modi will go to Ukraine, where he will discuss bilateral relations in political, trade, economic, investment, education, cultural, public relations, humanitarian assistance and other areas in Kiev. In Ukraine, he will also meet students and others from the Indian community.
First visit of an Indian Prime Minister after 45 years
Tanmay Lal, Secretary (West) of the Ministry of External Affairs, said that this visit of Prime Minister Modi is very important, as this is the first occasion in 45 years when an Indian Prime Minister is visiting Poland. This visit is taking place at a time when 70 years of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries are also being completed.
He further said that a unique relationship between India and Poland dates back to the time of World War II during the 1940s, when more than six thousand women and children from Poland took refuge in two princely states of India – Jamnagar and Kolhapur. It is believed that this visit of Prime Minister Modi will further strengthen the relations between the two countries. Earlier, Prime Minister Modi had visited Russia, where he was awarded Russia’s highest honor.
