Amrita Pritam’s husband Imroz passes away
Amrita Pritam’s partner and famous poet and painter Imroz passed away at his Mumbai home at the age of 97. Imroz was going through age related problems for some time. Imroz was also known as Inderjit Singh. Imroz was admitted to the hospital a month ago also due to age related ailments. Imroz remained in the news for his relationship with writer and poet Amrita Pritam.

The demise of Amrita Pritam’s partner Imroz has come as a huge shock to her fans. Everyone knows the love story of Imroz and Amrita Pritam. However, both of them never married, but lived with each other for 40 years. Let us tell you that ‘she is here, at home, has not gone anywhere.’ With these immortal words, Inderjeet Singh alias Imroz kept Amrita Pritam alive in his memories even after her death. He never used to say about Amrita that she is no more, but used to insist that she is still around.

Amrita was looking for an artist for the cover design of her poetry collection ‘Nagmaani’ and during this search, she met painter Imroz. Amrita used to fondly call Imroz as Jeet. Imroz also wrote a book for Amrita named ‘Amrita ke liye Nazm Jari Hai’, which was published in 2008. Amrita had also written for Imroz, ‘I will meet Tainu again… how much?’

Imroz had designed the covers of many famous LPs including Jagjit Singh’s ‘Birha Da Sultan’ and ‘Bibi Nooran Ki’, ‘Coolie Reh Vich’. Amrita died in the year 2005. After Amrita’s death, Imroz wrote a love poem, ‘She has left her body, not her company…’
