FWICE appeals to film makers to boycott Maldives

Lakshadweep and Maldives are being discussed everywhere. Meanwhile, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) on Wednesday appealed to all filmmakers to cancel their shooting bookings in Maldives. FWICE has issued a press release, asking filmmakers to shoot in places like Lakshadweep in India and contribute to the development of tourism in India. As soon as Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared photos of his visit to Lakshadweep on social media on January 2, Maldives’ Deputy Minister of Youth Rights, Information and Arts, Mariam Shiuna, made objectionable comments on it. As the uproar escalated, the Maldives government presented its stand on the entire matter. On the other hand, personalities from various walks of life in India expressed strong objection to the remarks of the Maldivian Minister.

FWICE’s Maldives Boycott appeal to film makers

The decision to boycott Maldives by FWICE has created a stir on social media. Let us tell you that the statement issued by FWICE said, ‘In view of the increasing tension between India and Maldives over the derogatory statement by three Maldivian ministers, the oldest of the workers, technicians and artists working in the media and entertainment industry. And the largest body FWICE condemns the irresponsible and wrong remarks of Maldivian Ministers regarding respected PM Narendra Modi on Vishwaster. In solidarity with the nation and its broader culture, FWICE has decided to boycott the Maldives and its shooting locations. Instead, FWICE appeals to its members to shoot at similar places in India and contribute to the development of tourism in India.

FWICE gave advice to manufacturers
