Actress Ankita Lokhande, who plays the role of VD Savarkar’s wife Yamunabai Savarkar in the upcoming film ‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’ directed by Randeep Hooda, said that her director and co-star wanted her not to wear makeup for her character. He said that he did this to bring out the character in a better way. The trailer of the film was launched in Mumbai on Monday. This film is based on freedom fighter and politician Vinayak Damodar Savarkar.

The actress said, ‘I am playing the character of Yamunabai in the film. She is a very strong woman. If I talk about preparation for this role, Randeep gave me freedom as an artiste. As a director he would tell me what he wanted me to do. This character is not about dialogues, but about expression.

He further said, ‘Yamunabai has suffered a lot of pain in her life, which I have tried to show in my character. I don’t know whether I have done justice to my character or not, but I always try to do what the director wants from me. Ankita further said, ‘I had blind trust in Randeep. When my look was being discussed, Randeep clearly said that he did not want any kind of makeup on me. He wanted me to look natural like Yamunabai.
