60 percent of babies in India are dying due to this reason alone, take care of these things

A research has revealed that 60 percent of Indian babies die due to brain injury. Now in this research it has also been said that through a simple blood test the injury can be easily detected and what were the reasons for the injury? It is reaching the status of a fatal disease in India.  Many reasons have been suggested in this research, one of which is hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE). This type of brain injury occurs when the baby does not get enough oxygen before or immediately after birth. than they should.

Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) causes death and disability in infants born with HIE. A major cause, which affects approximately 3 million every year. Researchers at Imperial College London, UK, found patterns of gene expression that can be detected in blood. Can indicate the cause of injury and tell doctors whether the newborn can be treated.

Lack of oxygen has a profound effect on the brain

Researchers said that brain injury due to lack of oxygen can progress from hours to months and affect different parts of the brain. Which can result in various potential neurodisabilities like headaches, epilepsy, deafness or blindness. This research further states that the burden of this disease is highest in South Asia and especially India. This country accounts for 60 percent of all HIE-related deaths in the world.

Researchers at Imperial College London, UK, found patterns of gene expression that can be detected in blood. Can indicate the cause of injury and tell doctors whether the newborn can be treated.  Can respond to treatment, which is commonly used to treat brain injury.

Early diagnosis of brain injury in newborns, according to the study published in the journal JAMA Network Open. A simple test can lead to diagnosis and help with treatment decisions. The study included children from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) as well as high-income countries (HICs). There was a dramatic divergence in gene expression between the two groups suggesting a different underlying cause of the brain injury. Professor Sudheen Thayil, from Imperial College London, said: “Although cases of brain injury in infants may appear similar, as our study shows, they can be quite different. The gene expression changes we observed in infants from LMICs The pattern they saw was similar to what you see in people with sleep apnea, which suggests they experienced intermittent hypoxia in the womb and at birth.

Researchers believe That it is caused by a number of chronic stressors such as poor nutrition or infection during pregnancy, as well as the normal delivery process and uterine contractions. Which further causes hypoxia. Which causes brain injury to the child. On the other hand, the gene expression pattern in HIC infants suggested the same serious cause of brain injury. For example, complications like maternal bleeding during birth. causing a sudden drop in blood oxygen levels in the fetus. Previous studies, primarily conducted in HIE, have shown that whole-body cooling may improve outcomes for infants with HIE. As a result, it has become standard practice in many HICs and is also used in some hospitals in South Asia.
