This blocks blood flow from reaching the heart and brain. Oxygen supply is reduced in smokers as compared to non-smokers, which has a negative effect on the heart.

Side effects of smoking

Smoking damages the cells lining the blood vessels. Due to this, plaque is formed in the blood vessels. In such a situation, blood vessels start shrinking and blood flow slows down. If sufficient amount of blood does not reach the heart, problems like heart attack and stroke can occur.

Dangers of second hand smoke

Like smoking, second hand smoke is also harmful for heart health. Second hand smoke comes out after burning the tobacco product and is inhaled. Breathing second hand smoke increases the risk of coronary heart disease. Non-smokers who inhale second hand smoke have a 25 to 30 percent higher risk of heart disease. Second hand smoke increases the risk of stroke by about 20 to 30%. Second hand smoke has a negative impact on the normal functions of the heart, blood and vascular system. Due to which the risk of heart attack increases.

What diseases are caused by smoking

1. Cigarette smoke and tar can cause lung cancer.

2. Smoking increases the risk of problems like COPD, asthma, female and male infertility, diabetes, cataract.

3. Smoking can cause cancer like ovarian, pancreatic, colon, stomach, liver.
