Diabetes And Skin Problems: Do you know that many skin diseases can also cause diabetes. It may sound strange but health experts warn about it. Actually, problems like itching and redness in the skin are quite common but sometimes ignoring them or taking them lightly can prove costly. According to the doctor, in chronic diseases like diabetes, the risk of skin related diseases is also higher. Skin problems can also become serious in some cases of diabetes. In such a situation, if your blood sugar level always remains uncontrolled then you should be careful. Know which skin diseases may be at greater risk in diabetic patients.

skin ulcers

The problem of blisters on the skin of diabetic patients is quite common. Blisters develop on the fingers, toes and entire hands and feet. These blisters are white but they do not hurt. These blisters heal on their own in two to three weeks but they may be a sign that your blood sugar level is not under control. This should be taken seriously.

digital sclerosis

Diabetic patients also have the risk of digital sclerosis. In this your skin becomes thicker than normal. A person suffering from type-1 and type-2 diabetes can suffer from these problems. The skin of the fingers and toes may be thick or wax-like. The risk of this is higher in people whose blood sugar level is uncontrolled.

Necrobiosis lipoidica

Necrobiosis i.e. deadness of cells can also be a sign of diabetes. In this, small, raised, red spots appear on the skin which gradually start growing and becoming shiny. In this the skin can become thin and it can also tear. Ulcer may also occur due to wound. However, such cases are not seen frequently. Out of about 300 diabetic patients, only one patient has this type of disease. Therefore one should be careful about diabetes.
