Kidney patients should not eat banana, know why health experts forbid it?

Kidney is a very important part of our body. Kidneys do the work of filtering blood. After filtering the blood, the dirt that comes out of it gets converted into toilet. Kidneys are responsible for everything from hormonal imbalance to balancing iron in the body. If there is any kind of disturbance in it, then the risk of high BP, diabetes, heart disease, hepatitis C virus and HIV infection increases. When the kidneys get damaged, more than half of the body’s functions start getting disturbed. Kidney patients should avoid eating certain types of food items.

Apart from calories and sugar, soda also contains potassium. Phosphorus is added to many foods and beverages during processing to enhance flavor, extend shelf life, and prevent discoloration. Your body absorbs this added phosphorus better than natural, animal- or plant-based phosphorus.

Avocado
Avocados are often included in diets for their many nutritional properties, including heart-healthy fats, fiber and antioxidants. While avocados are generally a healthy addition to the diet, individuals with kidney disease may need to avoid them. This is because avocado is a very rich source of potassium.

However, most canned foods contain high amounts of sodium, because salt is added as a preservative to extend their shelf life. Multigrain bread can be beneficial for individuals with kidney disease. For healthy individuals, whole wheat bread is generally recommended over refined, white flour bread. Whole wheat bread may be a more nutritious option. However, multigrain bread is more beneficial than white bread for individuals with kidney disease, mainly due to its high fiber content.

Dairy products contain high amounts of phosphorus, potassium and protein and should be limited in a kidney diet. Despite milk’s high calcium content, its phosphorus content can weaken the bones of people with kidney disease.
