Apart from the many health problems associated with winter, cases of ear infections have recently increased across all age groups. Cold weather provides a favorable environment for bacteria and viruses to grow and cause further problems. Inflammation is usually caused by bacteria or viruses, which can damage the ears. One cause of ear swelling is considered to be weak immunity in cold.

According to experts, if sinusitis is not treated, it can also cause problems for the ears, because ear infection is linked to nose and throat infection. During the winter season, people suffer from ear infections due to excessive dryness in the ears and allergic rhinitis. Cold weather also causes ear pain. Ear infections can increase due to reduced blood circulation during the cold months.

Ear pain can become severe when exposed to cold air in an open space and it is important to treat it as soon as possible. In case of ear infection, use ear drops immediately and follow the treatment method suggested by the treating doctor. Take antibiotics, antihistamines and painkillers after consulting your doctor.

Important advice

To reduce ear pain, use a heating pad or moist cloth such as an ice pack or warm compress. Do not allow water to accumulate in the ears. Keep ears warm by wearing a hat and scarf. Do not use cotton in the ears to protect from wind. Doing this can cause swelling in the ear canal. Try to keep germs away by washing your hands with soap and water.
