11 rebel MLAs from Himachal Pradesh reached Uttarakhand

Six party MLAs from Himachal Pradesh, who voted against Congress candidate Abhishek Manu Singhvi in the Rajya Sabha elections, reached Uttarakhand along with three independent MLAs and have been accommodated in a hotel. Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu hit back at the MLAs, terming it a “conspiracy” by the BJP. Along with the rebel MLAs, two MLAs of Himachal Pradesh unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Vikram Thakur and Trilok Jamwal are also present. All these MLAs reached Rishikesh from Panchkula in Haryana in a chartered flight late on Friday night and stayed at Hotel Taj. Congress MLAs Sudhir Sharma, Rajinder Rana, Inder Dutt Lakhanpal, Davinder Kumar Bhuttu, Ravindra Thakur and Chaitanya Sharma have been disqualified for violating the party whip on the state budget.

Rebel MLAs knocked at the door of the court

The rebel MLAs have approached the Supreme Court for relief in the matter. Along with the rebel Congress MLAs, there are also three independent MLAs – Hoshiar Singh, KL Thakur and Ashish Sharma. Security has been beefed up around the hotel and no one is being allowed to enter except those who have made prior bookings. Congress is busy handling the situation in Himachal and talks are being held with senior ministers of the state. Currently, Congress has 34 MLAs and BJP 25 in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly. Three independent MLAs also supported BJP in the Rajya Sabha elections. At the same time, Sukhu reacted sharply when the MLAs went from Haryana to Uttarakhand and alleged that the MLAs were being taken from one place to another like a shepherd driving sheep.

CM Sukhu targeted

Addressing a public meeting in Mandi, Sukhu said that the BJP is shifting from one place to another the six ineligible Congress MLAs who have betrayed the party. He expressed confidence that his government will complete its five-year term. Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region BL Verma told reporters in Haridwar that the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh will fall soon. Verma said, “The Sukhu government in Himachal Pradesh is struggling with internal strife. Because of this infighting, it will not last long.” He claimed that the actions of former Congress president Rahul Gandhi had wiped out the Congress in Uttar Pradesh and the party would be wiped out from the entire country after the Lok Sabha elections.
