Bhubaneswar: 9 people have been detained from Jagannath Temple of Puri located in Odisha. All these people are accused of entering the temple unauthorized. Odisha Police has detained 09 Bangladeshis in this case. An official gave this information on Monday. Police said that all the detained people are being investigated. The police officer said that some activists of Vishwa Hindu Parishad had complained that many non-Hindu Bangladeshis were entering the 12th century temple. It was also said that these people were violating the norms of the temple. After this a complaint was lodged at Singhdwar police station. 09 Bangladeshis were taken into custody on Sunday evening.

Puri Additional Superintendent of Police Sushil Mishra said that after receiving the complaint, a police team reached the spot. The police team detained the tourists for questioning. Additional Superintendent of Police said, “We have received a complaint that some non-Hindu people from Bangladesh entered the temple. We have detained 09 Bangladeshis and started interrogating them.

Additional Superintendent of Police Sushil Mishra said that if they were found to be non-Hindus, action would be taken against them as per law. “We are checking their passports which have revealed that one of them is a Hindu,” he said.
