New Delhi: Union Petroleum and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has a very optimistic view on the early accession of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir to India. While answering the questions of Rajat Sharma in the show ‘Aap Ki Adalat’ aired on Saturday night at 10 pm on India TV, Puri said – ‘The economic situation in Pakistan has become so bad that after some time some parts of it will be merged with India. ‘ When asked by Rajat Sharma when the people of India will see Pakistan-occupied Kashmir joining the country, Puri replied – ‘soon’. However, he did not elaborate on this.

This became possible because of PM Modi

Hardeep Puri, who has been a diplomat for nearly 39 years, said, ‘There has been a big change in India-Pakistan relations in the last nine years. Now India is not tagged with Pakistan. This has been possible because of PM Modi. There are three specialties of Narendra Modi, the first is that he fulfills whatever he promises. Secondly, his dream of making India a developed nation by 2047 will come true. Third, in a completely divided world, Narendra Modi is playing the role of uniting everyone. This has become clear in the recent G-20 summit held in India.

let them create khalistan in canada

On the demand for Khalistan by the separatists living in Canada, Hardeep Singh Puri said, ‘Let them create Khalistan in Canada, because most of the Khalistanis live there. I consider it cuckooland. Our 10th Guru Gobind Singh formed the Khalsa. Today Sikhs constitute less than two percent of India’s population, yet Punjab dominates agriculture, transportation, medicine, law and other fields. …India is rapidly emerging among the top three economies of the world, very soon we will see that Indians living in America and Canada are also returning to the country due to better economic opportunities.

Why is there violence, extremism and drugs in Canada?

On a question related to the US foiling a plan by Indian agencies to kill separatist Khalistani leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannu in a recent report by the Financial Times, London, Hardeep Puri said, ‘I have a different opinion about the Financial Times. It publishes news reports about oil daily, which I don’t trust. It is not India’s policy to eliminate terrorists on foreign soil.’ When asked by Rajat Sharma why India’s enemies like Pannu should not be eliminated, Puri only said, ‘I have to express my feelings in my heart. Let it be kept. I shouldn’t say anything more than that. But let me tell you, this is not our policy, our system is not like this… Will they say that the Air India Kanishka bombing in 1985 was carried out by Indian agencies? Why is there violence, extremism and drugs in Canada? Slain terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar was refused visa by Canadian authorities several times.

Trudeau’s behavior irritable on the issue of Khalistan separatists

Puri said, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has been supporting the separatists for a long time. ‘When he came to Amritsar, I and the then Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu welcomed him and took him to Darbar Sahib. Trudeau has long been critical of India on the issue of Khalistan separatists. His behavior on this issue was ‘irritable’. Puri revealed how Navdeep Singh Bains, one of the Canadian ministers at the luncheon hosted by Narendra Modi for the Canadian PM, openly said, ‘I went to Canada and became a minister’. Puri said, ‘I replied to him – Look, I stayed in India and became a minister.’

I was surprised when PM Modi made the offer.

Hardeep Puri revealed how in 2017 he suddenly got a call from the Prime Minister’s Office asking him to come and meet Narendra Modi. Puri said, ‘I was in Colombo at that time to participate in the Indian Ocean Conference. I met the Prime Minister at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg. He invited me for breakfast, and asked me to go to Rashtrapati Bhavan to take the oath of office as minister. When he said this I was surprised. Later I got the Rajya Sabha ticket.

Never called Rahul ‘donkey’

Hardeep Singh Puri denied that he had ever called Rahul Gandhi a ‘donkey’. He said ‘That was a saying I was quoting. I’m getting a donkey to race the horses. I never said, he is a donkey. But on foolishness I had said, there are three types of fools in the world – one ordinary, one extraordinary and the third one I call Chakravarti.

When had to pass through the jungle of Jaffna

Hardeep Puri revealed how as a special envoy of the government he had to walk through the jungles of Jaffna to meet LTTE chief V. Prabhakaran to seek approval for the India-Sri Lanka peace accord in 1987. Puri said, ‘There were landmines on the way and we had to travel at night to avoid attacks. Our military advisor was an Indian Navy officer. It was a secret mission. This was a big task for me professionally.
