The battle cry for the Lok Sabha elections is about to begin, before which the ruling party and the opposition are busy preparing for the elections. The politics of manipulation and friendship and promises and intentions are at their peak. On one hand, the ruling party BJP led NDA has claimed victory on 400 seats this time, while the opposition is also trying to unite. It remains to be seen how the weak opposition will counter the strong ruling party, but efforts are on. The opposition India group, formed long ago, has now started the effort to unite. First, in UP, the national party Congress formed an alliance with the Samajwadi Party and now it has announced to contest elections in five states in collaboration with the Aam Aadmi Party.

Talking about the opposition, it may talk about showing unity but it will have to do a lot of work to become strong and compete with the NDA. AAP and Congress on Saturday announced seat-sharing agreements in Delhi, Haryana, Gujarat, Chandigarh and Goa for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, likely to be held in April-May this year. In Gujarat, Congress will contest on 24 seats, Aam Aadmi Party on 2 seats; Congress will contest on 9 seats in Haryana, AAP on one seat; In Delhi, AAP will contest on four seats while Congress will contest on 3 seats. But no consensus could be reached in Punjab… hence there will be a friendly fight there.

Regarding the alliance, Congress General Secretary Mukul Wasnik said that AAP will contest from three seats in Delhi – New Delhi, West Delhi, South Delhi and East Delhi and Congress will contest from Chandni Chowk, remaining three seats, East and North, West Delhi. Wasnik said, Congress will contest elections from nine Lok Sabha constituencies in Haryana, while one seat has been given to AAP from Kurukshetra. Congress will contest on 24 seats in Gujarat while Aam Aadmi Party will try its luck on Bhavnagar and Bharuch seats. Congress will contest alone on two Lok Sabha seats of Chandigarh and Goa.

Wasnik said that both AAP and Congress will contest the elections on their respective symbols, they will contest the Lok Sabha elections jointly. The seat-sharing deal has been announced to “fight the adverse challenges against Indian democracy”, the Congress leader said, adding that for the alliance, “the country is important, not any party.”

Wasnik said, “Opposition leaders are being arrested. Farmers are facing atrocities. Opposition parties have set aside their differences and come together. We will foil the BJP’s strategy. The parties are not only fighting the elections individually, we are fighting jointly under the India Bloc.”

Wasnik, Arvinder Singh Lovely and Deepak Babaria from Congress attended the joint press conference. AAP was represented by Atishi, Saurabh Bhardwaj and Sandeep Pathak. Pathak said, “Seeing how elections are being looted, farmers are being exploited and institutions are being compromised, we have decided to put aside our differences and give a strong alternative. Our alliance is BJP Will spoil the equation.”

The agreement on seat sharing between AAP and Congress comes after the Congress and Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (SP) agreed on seat sharing in Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Congress will contest 17 Lok Sabha seats in UP and the remaining 63 seats will be for SP and other alliance partners of India Bloc. According to the agreement, Congress will field candidates in its strongholds – Rae Bareli and Amethi. Congress will also contest elections in Kanpur Nagar, Fatehpur Sikri, Basgaon, Saharanpur, Prayagraj, Maharajganj, Amroha, Jhansi, Bulandshahr, Ghaziabad, Mathura, Sitapur, Barabanki and Deoria. Congress will field its candidate from Varanasi seat, the Lok Sabha constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Due to the alliance, Congress’s friendship with Aam Aadmi Party and SP may prove costly as its candidates may get angry. Many such seats in UP have gone to the account of Samajwadi Party. From where Congress has been contesting elections earlier. Talking about Bharuch seat in Gujarat, it has gone to your account. The displeasure of Congress leaders regarding this has come to the fore and these leaders can choose an option. Mumtaz Patel, daughter of late Ahmed Patel, a veteran Congress leader in Gujarat, was hopeful that the party would make her or her brother Faisal its Lok Sabha candidate from Bharuch, but this is not possible due to friendship.

Let us tell you that Bharuch has been the traditional seat of Ahmed Patel and he has been a Lok Sabha MP from here thrice. Now after the alliance between Congress and AAP, Mumtaz Patel wrote in a post on her X handle, ‘I apologize from the bottom of my heart to our district cadre for not being able to secure the Bharuch Lok Sabha seat in the alliance. I can understand your disappointment. Together, we will regroup to strengthen the Congress. We will not let Ahmed Patel’s 45-year legacy go to waste.

At the same time, due to the friendship between Congress and SP in UP, senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid is angry from Farrukhabad seat of UP. Because after this friendship, this seat has gone to the account of Samajwadi Party. Salman Khurshid wrote in the post of his X handle,

‘How much test will my relations with Farrukhabad have to face? The question is not mine, but about the future of all of us. Belongs to the coming generations. Never bow before the decisions of fate, I may break, but will not bow. You promise to support me, I will keep singing songs.

Congress’s Ravi Verma was hoping to get the ticket for his daughter Purvi Verma from Lakhimpur Kheri seat, but after the alliance, this seat has now gone to SP’s account. Former minister Nakul Dubey, who left BSP and joined Congress, was hoping for a ticket on either Sitapur and Lucknow seats, the Lucknow seat has now gone to SP. At the same time, Congress is preparing to field former MLA Rakesh Rathore from Sitapur. Former Congress state president Brijlal Khabri was preparing to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Jalaun, but this seat has also been taken by SP, so there could be electoral chaos on these seats.

The 17 seats on which Congress will contest the Lok Sabha elections in alliance with SP in UP include Rae Bareli, Amethi, Kanpur, Fatehpur Sikri, Bansgaon, Saharanpur, Prayagraj, Maharajganj, Varanasi, Amroha, Jhansi, Buldanshahr, Ghaziabad, Mathura, Sitapur, Barabanki and Deoria. Are included.
