New Delhi: Ramlala’s life is going to be consecrated on January 22 in the newly constructed temple of Ayodhya. This day will be written in golden letters in history. Thousands of Ram devotees had sacrificed their lives just to see this day. Thousands of people abandoned their homes. Took lathicharge, fought the case in court. Then this day has come. After 1980, the Ram Mandir movement had become a bit subdued, but after this, in the year 1990, Bharatiya Janata Party leader LK Advani raised a different flame. For this he set out on a journey from Somnath in Gujarat.

This journey has completed 33 years. Pran Pratistha is also not far away. Earlier, Lal Krishna Advani talked to the monthly magazine ‘Rashtradharma’. In this he said that he is eager to see the consecration of Shri Ram Lalla. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi deserves congratulations for bringing this moment, building a grand temple of Ram Lalla and fulfilling his resolve.

‘I didn’t know that the journey would turn into a movement’

Recalling the unforgettable moment of his Rath Yatra, Lal Krishna Advani says that today the Rath Yatra has completed 33 years. When we started the Rath Yatra on the morning of September 25, 1990, we did not know that the faith in Lord Ram with which we were starting this Yatra would take the form of a movement in the country. At that time, the present Prime Minister of the country Narendra Modi was his assistant. He remained with him throughout the Rath Yatra. He was not very famous then. But at that very time Ram had chosen his only devotee to renovate his temple. Advani ji himself believes that the Ayodhya movement was the most decisive and transformative event in his political journey, which gave him the opportunity to re-discover India and, in the process, re-understand himself.

‘The chariot was moving ahead and along with it the crowd also kept joining.’

In the context of the struggle story related to his journey, he says that the chariot was moving forward and along with it the crowd was also joining. Public support grew from Gujarat to Maharashtra and increasingly to all subsequent states. During the journey, deafening slogans like ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and ‘Saugand Ram ki kate hain, mandir wahi banayenge’ kept resonating. He said, ‘There were many experiences during the Rath Yatra which influenced my life. Unknown villagers from remote villages would come to me overwhelmed with emotion after seeing the chariot. They would salute. They would praise Ram and go away. This was a message that there are many people across the country who dream of Ram Temple. They were living by forcibly hiding their faith. Along with the consecration of the temple on January 22, 2024, the suppressed desires of those villagers will also be fulfilled.

‘Destiny had decided this’

Apart from this, he also says that any event takes shape in the mind and brain of a person before it finally happens in reality. At that time I felt that destiny had decided that one day a grand temple of Shri Ram would definitely be built in Ayodhya. Well, now it’s only a matter of time. Advani ji tells that within a few days of the beginning of the Rath Yatra, I realized that I was just a charioteer. The main messenger of the Rath Yatra was the chariot itself and was worthy of worship because it was going to Ayodhya, the birthplace of Shri Ram, to fulfill the sacred purpose of building the temple. Meanwhile, he also remembers former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. They are feeling his absence in the grand event of Pran Pratistha.
