New Delhi: Before voting in Telangana, the Central Election Commission has sent a notice to the Karnataka government. The Election Commission has found the Karnataka government violating the model code of conduct for issuing advertisements in Telangana. ECI has also sought clarification by 5 pm on November 28. The Election Commission says, “Publication of any such advertisement by the Government of Karnataka in the State of Telangana will be stopped with immediate effect until the Government obtains necessary approval from the Commission as per the instructions of the MCC.”

“Certain advertisements highlighting the welfare schemes and achievements of the Central Government and State Governments are being published by some non-poll bound State Governments in the editions of newspapers of the States where elections are being held,” the Commission said in the notice. The Commission considers this to be a violation of the spirit of the Model Code of Conduct.”

Such promotions will have to be approved by the Commission

Along with this, the Commission said that in future, all such advertisements issued by non-poll bound State Governments during the period of Model Code of Conduct will be referred to the Commission for approval before being sent for publication in newspapers with edition or circulation. Will be sent to. The Commission has examined its own records and found that neither such approval was granted by the Commission under the above mentioned direction nor is any such application from the State of Karnataka found pending for decision. The Commission has taken this seriously. And has asked the Karnataka government to give its clarification by 5 pm on 28th November.
