Heavy rain alert in Tamil Nadu
Tamil Nadu: The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday. Due to forecast of heavy rain in the state, holiday has been declared in educational institutions including professional colleges in Cuddalore district on November 14. District Collector Arun Thamburaj has informed that due to the forecast of heavy rainfall by the Meteorological Department, holiday has been declared in educational institutions including professional colleges in Mayiladuthurai district on November 14. District Collector AP Mahabharti has issued an order regarding this.
According to the Meteorological Department, the effect of North-East Monsoon will be visible in the state. NDRF has said that as a precautionary measure for rainfall, 10 teams of 25 people are ready at NDRF 04 Bn Arakkonam. Arakkonam NDRF is in touch with the State Emergency Operations Center in Chennai. At Arakkonam, a 24×7 operation center is functioning and ready to operate as per the needs of the Government of Tamil Nadu.

The Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) has predicted that a low pressure area is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal on Tuesday and cause heavy to very heavy rainfall. Orange and yellow alert has been issued for several districts for the next two days. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Chennai and neighboring districts of Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur and Chengalpattu.
An upper air circulation over the Gulf of Thailand now forms over the South Andaman Sea. Due to its impact, a low pressure area is likely to be formed. It will move north-westwards and turn into a depression over west-central South Bay of Bengal on 16 November. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Villupuram, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram and Cuddalore districts. An alert has been issued for at least 15 districts of Tamil Nadu.
