AQI again crosses 400 in 21 areas of Delhi, air turns poisonous in Noida and Ghaziabad too

Air pollution increases again in Delhi

After Diwali, the air is once again getting polluted in the national capital. The smog blanket in Delhi became thicker on Tuesday. Delhi’s AQI is again reaching the serious category. AQI of 21 areas of Delhi has crossed 400. Also according to the AQI bulletin, Noida recorded the highest AQI of 364 among the three cities, followed by Ghaziabad at 356 and Greater Noida at 348, all readings in the “very poor” category of the AQI scale.

Air polluted in Delhi-Noida and Ghaziabad

The air quality remained “very poor” in the three cities of Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad on Tuesday, two days after Diwali, according to the daily air quality index (AQI) bulletin of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). According to the AQI bulletin , Noida recorded the highest AQI of 364 among the three cities, followed by Ghaziabad at 356 AQI and Greater Noida at 348, all readings in the “very poor” category of the AQI scale. CPCB data shows that fine particulate matter (PM) 2.5 was the major pollutant in all three cities.

Live air quality index readings calculated by CPCB showed that in Noida on Tuesday, the worst AQI (384) was recorded by Sector 62 monitoring station, followed by 357 at Sector 116 station, 349 AQI at Sector 1. I went.

Thick layer of smog visible since Tuesday morning

On Tuesday, a thick layer of smog was seen in Delhi since morning. Due to this, there was very little sunlight throughout the day. If the wind speed is very low, the emission of pollutant particles also seems to have stopped. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, Delhi’s AQI was 397 on Tuesday. This level of air is categorized as ‘very poor’, but it is just four points below the severe category.

A day earlier i.e. on Monday this AQI was 358. It has increased by 39 points within 24 hours. The air in 21 areas of Delhi has reached ‘severe’ category with AQI above 400. At present, there is more than three times the normal pollution present in the atmosphere of Delhi and NCR. According to CPCB, there is more than three times the pollution present in the air of Delhi-NCR than the standards. Visibility level in Delhi has also been affected due to smog. According to the Meteorological Department, between seven and eight in the morning the visibility level in Safdarjung and Palam was reduced to 500 meters. Normally it should remain at two thousand meters.
