Basant Panchmi: PM Modi congratulated the countrymen on Basant Panchmi, 14.70 lakh people took a dip in the Ganga in Prayagraj – India TV Hindi

PM Modi congratulated on Basant Panchami, devotees gathered in large numbers to take bath in Prayagraj.

Basant Panchmi: The festival of Basant Panchmi is being celebrated with great pomp across the country. On this auspicious occasion, devotees gathered in large numbers to take a bath in the Ganga in Prayagraj. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the countrymen on Basant Panchami. The festival of Basant Panchami is celebrated every year on Panchami of Magh month. Mother Saraswati is worshiped on this day. It is believed that worshiping Goddess Saraswati on this day increases intelligence, knowledge and art. Modi said in a post on ‘X’, “Happy Basant Panchami and Saraswati Puja to my family members across the country.”

Till 8 am, 14.70 lakh people took a dip in the Ganga.

On Wednesday, Basant Panchami, the fourth bathing festival of Magh Mela in the Sangam city of Prayagraj, around 14.70 lakh people took a dip of faith in the Ganga and the holy Sangam till 8 am amidst the chanting of ‘Har Har Gange’. An official of the Magh Mela administration said that despite the cloudy sky since morning and cold weather after rain on Tuesday, about 14 lakh 70 thousand people took bath in Ganga and Sangam till 8 am on Wednesday. People have been coming to the Magh Mela area since early morning for bathing, which includes women, children and elderly people.

He said that for the convenience of the devotees coming to take bath, the length of the ghats has been increased from 6,800 feet to 8,000 feet and a total of 12 ghats have been built and adequate facilities for changing clothes have been provided at all the ghats. Deputy Inspector General of Police (Magh Mela) Rajeev Narayan Mishra said that elaborate security arrangements have been made in the fair area and more than 300 CCTV cameras and several AI based cameras are operational in the entire area. He said that if any suspicious object or person is seen in the fair area, immediate action is being taken.

Besides, ATS (Anti Terrorism Squad), RAF, SDRF, NDRF teams, women policemen, mounted police and bomb disposal squad are deployed in the fair area. To earn virtue on Basant Panchami, local people are distributing Puri vegetable, Halwa Puri etc. at various places in the Magh Mela area and the city. At the same time, bhandaras have been organized on a large scale in the camps of saints and sages in the Magh Mela area. (input language)
