India America: A top national security advisor to US President Joe Biden has reached New Delhi for talks on bilateral matters. The White House said Principal Deputy National Security Advisor John Finer will review ICET with India’s Deputy National Security Advisor Vikram Misri. John Finer led a US delegation to New Delhi on December 4 for an inter-sessional review of the US-India Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology (ICET) along with Indian Deputy National Security Advisor Vikram Misri. ICET is a major milestone in the US-India partnership, which is increasingly defined by strategic security and technology cooperation.
Case of alleged attempt to murder on American soil
Recently, the US Justice Department had accused an Indian named Nikhil Gupta of ‘attempt to murder’ a Sikh separatist leader. The US had accused 52-year-old Nikhil Gupta of collaborating with an Indian government employee in a foiled plot to kill a Sikh separatist. Although the US did not name the Sikh separatist leader in the allegations, the name of Sikh for Justice chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannu appeared in media reports. India told America that it has formed a committee to investigate this matter which will investigate the allegations.
What did America say about India’s investigation committee?
The White House said, ‘Finer acknowledged the importance of an investigative committee formed by India to investigate the deadly conspiracy in the United States and to hold accountable those found responsible.’ Apart from this, Finer met Ambassador Misri, Foreign Minister S. for in-depth discussion on issues like better coordination between the two countries. Held bilateral and regional consultations with Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra. They discussed in the context of events in the Indian Pacific Ocean and the Middle East.
