Before the Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given great news about the strategic strength of the country. The Prime Minister informed that DRDO scientists have conducted the first flight test of the indigenously developed Agni-5 missile with Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) technology under ‘Mission Divyastra’.
India joins selected countries of the world
After the success of Mission Divyastra, now multiple targets can be targeted at a time with Agni 5 missiles. A system will be installed on the missile, through which three different targets can be engaged at the same time. With the testing of Mission Divyastra, India has joined the select group of countries which have MIRV capability.
Know the features of Agni 5 missile
Agni-5 is an advanced surface-to-surface ballistic missile developed under the Integrated Guided Missile Development Program (IGMDP). This missile has the capability to hit targets beyond the range of 5000 km and is important for India’s self-defense systems. After firing this missile cannot be stopped without an interceptor missile.
