When did the plan start?
Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana was launched by the Central Modi government on 30 June 2020. Under the scheme, poor people get 5 kg of rice or wheat every month without any charges. The Central Government has been taking this scheme forward from time to time. Earlier this scheme was extended till the year 2023. However, during the Chhattisgarh election campaign, PM Modi had talked about taking this scheme forward. Now it has been officially announced.
