Actually, the Land for Jobs scam took place between 2004-2009. During this period Lalu Yadav was the Railway Minister. When Lalu was a minister, recruitments were done in Group D in Railways. Many people were given jobs within 3 days of applying. Allegations were made that land was taken as bribe from the candidates in exchange for jobs. When investigation was done in this matter, it was found that Lalu family was also accused of giving jobs in exchange of land. ED said in the charge sheet that Lalu family has got land at 7 places. Investigation revealed that jobs were given in a hurry without issuing any advertisement. Appointments were made in Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kolkata and Jaipur zones. More than 1 lakh square feet of land was purchased for just Rs 26 lakh, whereas the price of the land at that time was around Rs 4.39 crore.
