BJP’s first list released for Lok Sabha elections

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday released its first list with names of 195 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, giving a chance to new faces in place of 34 sitting MPs. BJP announced its candidates for 11 Lok Sabha seats of Assam in the list. Six of these candidates are sitting MPs while the other five are new faces. The party has fielded Parimal Suklabaidya from Silchar Lok Sabha constituency, which was won by Rajdeep Roy in the 2019 general elections. Party candidate Amar Singh Tiso will contest from Autonomous District (Reserved) seat. Horan Sing Bey is currently the MP for this seat. Bijuli Kalita Medhi will contest from Guwahati Lok Sabha seat which is currently held by Rani Ojha. Ranjit Dutta will contest from Tezpur Lok Sabha seat, which was won by Pallab Lochan Das in 2019.

BJP gave chance to these new faces

BJP has made Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal its candidate from Dibrugarh constituency, replacing sitting MP Rameshwar Teli. Four new faces are included in the list of BJP candidates for 11 seats of Chhattisgarh. From Janjgir Champa (Reserved) constituency, party candidate Kamlesh Jangade will contest from sitting MP Guharam Ajagalle. From Raipur, senior BJP leader Brijmohan Agarwal will be fielded and not Sunil Kumar Soni who had won the seat in 2019. BJP candidate Roop Kumari Chaudhary will contest the Lok Sabha elections from Mahasamund seat of the state in place of sitting MP Chunni Lal Sahu. BJP candidate Bhojraj Nag replaced sitting MP Mohan Mandavi on Kanker (reserved) seat. BJP announced five candidates for the Lok Sabha seat in Delhi, out of which four are new faces in place of sitting MPs.

Who got tickets on Delhi seats?

The party has removed two-time MP and former Union Minister Harsh Vardhan and made Praveen Khandelwal its candidate from Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha seat. From West Delhi seat, BJP has given ticket to Kamaljit Sehrawat in place of two-time MP Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma. In this, Bansuri Swaraj, daughter of late BJP leader Sushma Swaraj, has been made its candidate from New Delhi Lok Sabha seat, on which Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi is currently the MP. BJP has removed Ramesh Bidhuri from South Delhi and made Ramveer Singh Bidhuri its candidate. BJP declared candidates for 15 out of 26 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat. The BJP has canceled the tickets of five sitting MPs from the state while giving tickets to Union ministers Mansukh Mandaviya and Parshottam Rupala.

The sitting MPs whose tickets have been cut include former Union Minister of State Mohan Kundaria from Rajkot, Ramesh Dhaduk from Porbandar, Kirit Solanki from Ahmedabad West, Parbat Patel from Banaskantha and Ratansingh Rathod from Panchmahal. Union Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Minister Parshottam Rupala will contest from Rajkot in place of Kundaria. Rupala comes from Amreli district. Mandaviya, a resident of Bhavnagar district, has been fielded from Porbandar in place of Dhaduk. BJP has given ticket to Dinesh Makwana in place of Kirit Solanki in Ahmedabad West (Reserved) seat, while in Panchmahal, ticket has been given to Rajpal Singh Jadhav in place of sitting MP Ratansingh Rathore. BJP announced the names of candidates for 11 out of 14 seats in Jharkhand for the Lok Sabha elections.

Who got the chance in Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh?

In Jharkhand, BJP has fielded Manish Jaiswal from Hazaribagh seat, which is currently held by Jayant Sinha, son of former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha. Sameer Oraon has been given the ticket for Lohardaga (ST) seat in place of three-time MP Sudarshan Bhagat. In its list of candidates for Madhya Pradesh, the BJP has included new faces in place of seven sitting MPs. The party has nominated Bharat Singh Kushwaha as its candidate from Gwalior Lok Sabha seat in place of sitting MP Vivek Narayan Shejwalkar. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has been fielded from this seat by removing the sitting MP from Guna, Krishnapal Singh Yadav. BJP candidate Lata will contest from Wankhede Sagar Lok Sabha seat, which is currently held by Rajbahadur Singh. Virendra Khatik will contest from Tikamgarh (reserved) seat. BJP has removed Vidisha MP Ramakant Bhargava and made former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan its candidate from this seat.

Alok Sharma will be the candidate from Bhopal seat, currently held by Sadhvi Pragya Singh party MP. Party candidate Anita Nagar Singh Chauhan will contest from Ratlam (reserved) seat. Guman Singh Damor is currently the BJP MP on this seat. The BJP announced its candidates for 15 Lok Sabha seats in Rajasthan, including new faces in place of five sitting MPs, who will contest from Churu, Bharatpur, Jalore, Udaipur and Banswara. The party has named former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb as its candidate from Tripura West seat, which is currently held by party MP Pratima Bhowmik. The BJP has fielded Manoj Tigga from Alipurdwara (reserved) seat in West Bengal, from where John Barla is the sitting MP.
