Budget session of Jharkhand Assembly begins amidst uproar by opposition, demand for CBI inquiry into paper leak case – India TV Hindi

Ranchi: The budget session of the Jharkhand Assembly began on Friday with state Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon presenting the third supplementary budget of Rs 4,981 crore amid uproar from the main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party. Opposition MLAs came in front of the Speaker’s podium as soon as the House proceedings began at 11 am, displaying pamphlets demanding a CBI inquiry into the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination paper leak issue.

Finance Minister presented the third supplementary budget

Amid the uproar, state Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon presented the third supplementary budget of Rs 4,981 crore for the financial year 2023-24. As soon as the proceedings began on the first day of the seven-day assembly session, BJP MLAs and AJSU MLA Lambodar Mahato came in front of the Speaker’s podium and leaked the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination papers on January 28. CBI Started demanding investigation.

Demand for CBI investigation into paper leak case

The state government has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the matter. Leader of Opposition Amar Bauri said, “The state government brought a law to stop cheating in jobs and examinations. Despite this such a big paper got leaked. Therefore, we demand a CBI inquiry into the paper leak case.” Earlier, Assembly Speaker Ravindra Nath Mahato urged the agitating MLAs to return to their seats, saying these issues would be discussed during the session, but the MLAs continued to protest.

There will be seven meetings during the session

After about 40 minutes of proceedings including tributes, the House meeting was adjourned till February 26. The Speaker of the Assembly told the House that there will be seven meetings during the session, in which the budget for the 2024-25 financial year will be presented. He urged members of the ruling and opposition parties to ensure smooth functioning of the House in the interest of the people of the state. Mahato congratulated the two new ministers in the House, Basant Soren and Deepak Birua.
