Traffic advisory issued regarding farmers’ march to Delhi
A huge crowd of farmers is going to march towards Delhi at 9.30 am today with their demands. Farmers from Punjab and Haryana riding on tractors are going to reach Delhi and protest against the central government. In view of this, Delhi Police is on high alert. Meanwhile, Section 144 has also been imposed in Delhi for one month. At the same time, heavy police force is deployed on the borders connecting Delhi-UP, Delhi-Punjab and Delhi-Haryana. The administration is trying to stop farmers from entering Delhi in any way. Farmers can sit on strike on Tuesday to get their unfulfilled demands met by the Central Government. In such a situation, traffic jam may be seen in Delhi-NCR from today. However, Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory a day before. Those four borders of Delhi where you can get stuck in traffic jam
Tikri Border: CCTV cameras have been installed on the pillars of the metro rail along the border. The road coming from Delhi to Bahadurgarh has also been narrowed through barricades. Paramilitary forces may be deployed. Delhi Police has demanded 20 companies of additional security forces from the government for security arrangements.
Sarhaul Border: Side police of Sarhaul, Kapashera, Mehrauli, Bijwasan and Najafgarh have installed barricades of barbed wire and cement. Gurgaon district administration says that there is complete peace in the city right now. Till Monday evening, no advisory or route diversion was issued by the traffic police.
Faridabad Border: Farmer leaders have been issued a notice warning them that if the protesters cross the limit under the guise of agitation, action will be taken. The loss of government property will be compensated from the farmers leading the movement. Vehicles are being checked at Delhi-Faridabad border. The border is not sealed.
Noida Border: Traffic police have barricaded Chilla, DND and Kalindi Kunj borders. Vehicles from Noida to Delhi will be able to enter only after checking. Diversion can also be done if traffic pressure increases. Entry of heavy vehicles has been stopped. In such a situation, there may be diversion on the roads near the border also.
People traveling to Delhi from Ghaziabad, Vaishali, Vasundhara should pay attention
Those drivers who want to go directly from Delhi to Ghaziabad via Indirapuram, Noida Sector-62, Siddharth Vihar, Crossing Republic, can go directly from UP Gate via NH-9, but those who want to go towards Kaushambi, Vaishali, Link Road, Mohan Nagar. Yes, they should travel through Anand Vihar only. Delhi Police has closed the service lane of NH-9 by placing barricades, but NH-9 and Delhi Meerut Expressway are open. Drivers coming to Delhi from UP may have to face traffic jams. Water cannon vehicles are also parked.
Noida people should pay attention, know which roads are open and which are closed
- Those going to Delhi from Chilla Border will be able to go via Sector-14A flyover via Sector-15 roundabout via Sandeep Paper Mill Chowk, Jhundpura Chowk.
- Those going to Delhi from DND will be able to take the elevated road via Filmcity flyover via Sector-18.
- Vehicles going from Kalindi border to Delhi will be able to go through Mahamaya flyover via Sector-37.
- Traffic going to Delhi using Yamuna Expressway will be able to get down from Jewar Toll towards Khurja and reach the destination via Jahangirpur.
- Vehicles going to Delhi via Sirsa, Pari Chowk after getting off the Peripheral Expressway will not get down at Sirsa but will pass through Dadri, Dasna.
Some metro stations may be closed
In view of the farmers’ protests, vigil has also been increased at the metro stations adjacent to the border area. Sources say that if needed, some metro stations can be closed as a precautionary measure. There is no metro station near Singhu and Ghazipur border, but the Green Line of Metro passes through Tikar border. In such a situation, if the protesters from that side try to move through the metro, then some metro stations of the Green Line can be closed to stop them.
What are the preparations to stop the farmers?
Security has been increased on the Ambala-Kaithal bypass on the borders of Haryana and Punjab. The border with Punjab has been sealed at Shambhu near Ambala. Extensive arrangements have been made on the borders of Jind and Fatehabad districts to stop the farmers. To prevent farmers from jumping the police barricades, iron sheets have been installed on both sides of the road on the Ghaggar flyover. Water cannons and anti-riot vehicles have been deployed on the border with Punjab. The administration has also excavated the bed of the Ghaggar river to prevent protesters from coming to Haryana from Punjab through the river. Due to fear of disturbing peace, the Haryana government has banned mobile internet service and sending multiple SMS in seven districts – Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad and Sirsa from February 11 to 13.
Section 144 imposed on Delhi borders
After the announcement by the farmers, Delhi Police has imposed Section 144 on Ghazipur Border, Tikri Border and Singhu Border. Along with this, barricades have been installed on the borders. Police are also checking the vehicles passing through these borders. Along with this, the police there have increased vigilance on the Haryana and Punjab borders. To stop the farmers from moving forward, cement barricades have been installed and water has been released in the canals. Along with this, nails have also been laid on the roads. Many layers of barricading have been installed, stone barricading has also been installed.
What is the main demand of farmers from the government?
- Give legal guarantee of MSP to the government.
- Pension facility and crop insurance facility should also be provided to the farmers.
- Farmers have also demanded removal of cases against those against whom cases were registered during the protests in 2020.
- A demand has also been made on behalf of the farmers that the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission should be implemented as soon as possible in the farming sector.
- Demand for justice has also been raised for the victims of Lakhimpur violence.
