‘China and unstable borders are the most serious challenge for India and Army’ – CDS General Chauhan – India TV Hindi

Chief of Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan on Monday described the unstable borders with China and the rise of China as the most serious challenge. The CDS has also said that India and the Indian Armed Forces will have to face China in the near future. The CDS has said that volatile borders with China and the rise of China will remain the biggest challenges facing India and the Indian Armed Forces in the near future.

Disputed borders inherited – CDS

CDS Chauhan was participating in the program ‘Third Strategic and Security Dialogue on the Rise of China and its Impact on the World’ organized by the Department of Defense and Strategic Studies, Savitribai Phule Pune University on Monday. Here he said that the challenge we are facing today is unstable borders. India’s ancient boundaries are beginning to take shape. He said that we inherited disputed borders. The occupation of Tibet by China made them a new neighbor and the partition of India created a new nation that thrived on hostility and hatred towards us.

Need to maintain the validity of India’s claims- CDS

In the program, General Chauhan said that today both the neighbors of India have disputed the border. The conflicts have led to the emergence of the terms Line of Actual Control, Line of Control and Line of Actual Ground Position. He said the armed forces need to maintain the legitimacy of India’s claims on the disputed borders during peacetime and stressed that there is a need to tactfully deal with China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) at all friction points. He said both sides would need to work within the framework of agreed rules.

CDS also spoke on Arunachal

Recently, China had expressed objection to PM Modi’s visit to Arunachal. On this issue, Chief of Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan said that the state of Arunachal Pradesh was, is and will always be an integral and inseparable part of India. This consistent position has been conveyed to the Chinese side on several occasions. CDS has also emphasized on taking India forward in the race of technology. (Input: ANI)
