Youth Congress vehicles attacked
Congress’s ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ passed through Assam for the second day on Friday. During this period, there was a targeted attack on the vehicles of Youth Congress. BJP Yuva Morcha (BJYM) has been accused of vandalizing vehicles belonging to Youth Congress on Friday night. Rahul Gandhi’s cutout and banner were also damaged in Lakhimpur ahead of the yatra. The Congress is planning to lodge a complaint with the police and demand the arrest of miscreants linked to the BJP.
Rahul called Himanta the ‘most corrupt’ Chief Minister
Yesterday the party claimed that during its first trip from South to North, it did not face as many problems in the BJP-ruled states as it is facing in the North-Eastern states during its second trip. Rahul Gandhi criticized (Assam Chief Minister) Himanta Vishwa Sharma for the second consecutive day and called him the ‘most corrupt’ Chief Minister in the country. “The Chief Minister of Assam is so corrupt that he can teach his counterparts in other BJP-ruled states to commit corruption,” he said.
Congress’s journey will continue till March 21
The Congress yatra led by Rahul started from Manipur on January 14 and will conclude in Mumbai on March 20 or 21. The first ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ was organized from Kanyakumari to Kashmir in 2022-23. Gandhi and his colleagues began the day’s journey with a morning ferry ride on the Brahmaputra from Nimatighat in Jorhat district to Majuli, the world’s largest river island. Addressing the first public meeting in Assam on the second day of his ‘Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra’, Rahul claimed that Congress recognizes the rights of ‘tribals’ over resources as original inhabitants.
He said, “We call you Adivasi which means those who have lived since ancient times. The BJP calls you Vanvasi, which means people living in the forest.” The Congress leader alleged that the BJP wants to confine the tribals to the forests and force their children to go to schools and universities to get education, learn English and do business. Wants to deprive you of opportunities.
