New Delhi: The National Alliance Committee of Congress has submitted its report regarding the Lok Sabha elections to party president Mallikarjun Kharge. According to sources, this report has recommended sheet sharing with alliance partners on the basis of 2009 Lok Sabha elections in UP. Congress believes that if the performance of Congress in the last Lok Sabha was bad then the performance of Samajwadi Party was also not very good. Therefore, Congress should stake claim to contest all the seats it won in 2009.

State unit is demanding 40 seats in UP

The UP state unit of Congress is continuously demanding from the central leadership to contest elections on 50% seats i.e. 40 seats. The UP leadership of Congress believes that Congress needs Akhilesh as much as Akhilesh needs him in the Lok Sabha elections. The state unit believes that the inclination of Muslim voters will be towards Congress in the Lok Sabha elections, in such a situation, if SP and Congress contest elections separately, then SP will also have to bear the brunt of the division of Muslim votes.

Congress can contest more seats in UP

Earlier, 10 Lok Sabha seats were fixed for Congress in UP by the National Alliance Committee. But after pressure from the state unit, yesterday a zone-wise list of strong seats and leaders was asked from all the leaders of UP. Everyone was instructed to give their feedback till late evening yesterday, and in today’s meeting it has been decided to ask for more seats in UP.

Congress committee leaders will talk to other parties in the alliance

The leaders of the National Alliance Committee will now talk to the leaders of other political parties in the coming days. Although there is no time limit fixed for this, instructions have been given by the Congress President to do this work quickly. Therefore, discussions can be started in the next day or two.

Brainstorming in Congress on manifesto

The Congress committee tasked with drafting the party’s manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections held its first meeting on Thursday and discussed various points to be included in the document. The aim of Congress, which is trying to snatch power from BJP, which has been in power for almost 10 years, is to present an alternative positive agenda to the public. Committee Chairman P. Chidambaram said after the meeting, “This was the first meeting of the manifesto committee. This was an initial exchange of views on how we move forward with the draft of the declaration. The next meeting will be held next week.”

Apart from Chidambaram, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and former Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister T.S. Singh Deo are part of the committee. Singh Dev is the coordinator of the committee. Senior party leaders Anand Sharma, Jairam Ramesh, Shashi Tharoor, Ranjit Ranjan, Gaurav Gogoi, K.Raju and Gaikhangam are also part of the committee and attended the meeting. Rajya Sabha member Imran Pratapgarhi, Gujarat Congress working president Jignesh Mevani and coordinators in the Congress President’s office Gurdeep Sappal and Amitabh Dubey are also part of the key committee and attended the meeting.
