In the Lok Sabha elections 2024, there has been seat sharing between Congress and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on a total of 40 seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. 10 seats to be given to Congress in Tamil Nadu alliance have been announced. Congress will contest elections on 9 seats in Tamil Nadu and one seat in Puducherry.

The Lok Sabha seats given to Congress in Tamil Nadu include Thiruvallur, Cuddalore, Mayiladudurai, Sivagangai, Thirunalveli, Krishnagiri, Karur, Virudunagar and Kanyakumari. According to sources, former IAS officer Shashikant Senthil could be the candidate from Thiruvallur reserved seat.

Changes made in three seats

There has been a change in the three seats given to Congress as compared to 2019. This time Congress has not been given the seats of Arani, Ramanathapuram and Tiruchirappalli. Congress had won these three seats in the 20219 Lok Sabha elections. This time Tiruchirappalli seat has been given to Vaiko’s party MDMK instead of Congress. Probably Vaiko’s son Durai Vaiko can be made a candidate from here.

Voting will take place in the first phase

Congress party will field its candidates on 9 out of 39 seats in Tamil Nadu. At the same time, Congress will also contest elections on one seat in Puducherry. Congress will support the candidates of DMK and alliance parties on all the remaining seats in Tamil Nadu. Let us tell you that elections will be held for all the Lok Sabha seats of Tamil Nadu in a single phase. Voting will take place here in the first phase on April 19. The election results will come on June 4.
