Income tax raids at 9 locations of Congress Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Sahu in Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal are in their final stages. It is being told that counting is still going on at Sahu’s house in Ranchi. Apart from this, counting has almost been completed at all places. So far, cash worth Rs 355 crore has been recovered and the notes are still being counted at the Ranchi house. According to local banks, more than 50 State Bank employees counted these notes using more than 25 machines, in which the machines overheated twice and two-three machines were then separated.
The final number will come only after the operation is completed
Income tax officials are also surprised in the case of tax evasion. Earlier in 2019, Rs 257 crore was found in the Kanpur GST raid. Let us tell you that in any Income Tax Department raid, the Income Tax Department does not issue any official statement until the operation i.e. the raid is completed and all the documents including recovered cash, jewellery, property are assessed. Once the operation is completed, the Income Tax Department asks the person concerned about the cash and the basis of all recoveries. After this, if the correct details of the cash, jewelery and property recovered are not given, then all those recoveries are seized and deposited in the bank.
Dheeraj Sahu will be interrogated after counting
It is being told that after the counting in Ranchi, the Income Tax Department will interrogate Dheeraj Sahu about the Rs 355 crore cash and jewelery recovered. A lot of cash has also been found from Sahu’s family. The Income Tax Department will take further action by giving inquiry notice to all of them. After the completion of the operation, it is expected that the Income Tax Department will soon issue an official statement on the entire operation.
