Dense fog in Punjab and Haryana

A significant drop in day temperature was recorded at many places in Punjab and Haryana on Sunday, while dense fog remained prevalent in both the states since morning due to which normal life was affected. The Meteorological Department gave this information. According to the Meteorological Department, in view of the fog and cold weather conditions, the Punjab government has decided to change the timings of all schools, including private ones, from January 1. According to a statement, the new timing of opening of schools in Punjab – 10 am to 3 pm – will be in effect till January 14. Weather department officials said visibility has reduced due to fog at most places in both the states and their shared capital Chandigarh.

Dense fog in Haryana-Punjab

Train movements and flights were also delayed due to the prevailing weather conditions. The day’s maximum temperature in Chandigarh was recorded at 12.4 degrees Celsius, which is seven degrees below normal. The maximum temperature in Amritsar, Punjab was recorded at 11.7 degrees Celsius, which is six degrees below normal. The maximum temperature in Ludhiana was recorded at 11.4 degrees Celsius, which is seven degrees below normal. Patiala, Pathankot, Bathinda and Gurdaspur also recorded maximum temperatures below normal – 11.7 degrees Celsius, 13.9 degrees Celsius, 13.4 degrees Celsius and 12.5 degrees Celsius, respectively. In neighboring Haryana, Bhiwani, Sirsa, Ambala and Hisar recorded maximum temperatures of 11.1 degrees Celsius, 13 degrees Celsius, 12.3 degrees Celsius and 13.2 degrees Celsius respectively.

How will the weather be in Delhi?

Night temperatures remained close to normal in both the states. The cold in Chandigarh did not dampen the enthusiasm of New Year revelers as they thronged markets and shopping malls to celebrate the occasion. On New Year’s Eve, celebrations were similar at many places in Punjab and Haryana, including Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Panchkula, Faridabad, Gurugram and Rohtak. Let us tell you that the weather has changed its color in Delhi-NCR also. The sky remained cloudy throughout the day today. Meanwhile, a drop in temperature is being seen here.
