ED’s big action against Congress leader Salman Khurshid
New Delhi: Central investigation agency ED has taken major action against Congress leader Salman Khurshid and his wife Louise Khurshid. ED has seized assets worth Rs 45.92 lakh of Lewis and other accused. The investigating agency has linked this action to the scam in Dr Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust. There is an allegation of personally using the trust money.
Chargesheet was filed in 17 cases
ED has seized assets worth Rs 29.51 lakh and Rs 16.41 lakh in 4 bank accounts in Farrukhabad, UP. In this case, UP Police had filed chargesheet in 17 cases against Louis Khurshid and other accused. After this, ED took over the case and registered a case under PMLA and started investigation.
Allegation of fraud in Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust
It is noteworthy that during the year 2009-2010, Dr. Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust was accused of fraud in the matter related to distribution of artificial limb equipment to the disabled by organizing about 17 camps. This matter formally came to public notice in the year 2017, when several cases were registered in this matter. At that time it was alleged that artificial limb equipment had not been distributed to many disabled people, but the bill for the same had been paid.
