Election Commission asks for 3.4 lakh soldiers in upcoming elections, maximum for Bengal – India TV Hindi

Lok Sabha elections 2024 are to be held in India after a few days. Along with the Lok Sabha elections, assembly elections will also be organized in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim. Let us tell you that the general election of India is considered to be the biggest democratic election in the world. Keeping in mind the area, population and Lok Sabha seats, a large number of security personnel is required every time during elections. This time also the Election Commission has shared with the Union Home Ministry the number of soldiers required for the elections.

Demand for 3.4 lakh soldiers

The Election Commission has demanded a total of 3.4 lakh Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) from the Home Ministry for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. Along with this, the Commission has also demanded to arrange all the appropriate facilities for the soldiers and adequate number of trains so that the soldiers can be sent from one place to another easily and on time to complete the election work.

3,400 companies will be deployed

The Commission, in its letter sent to the Home Ministry, has said that the Commission has considered the requests made by the CEOs of the states and has deployed a maximum of 3,400 CAPFs in all the states and union territories in a phased manner to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections. It has been decided to deploy companies. Let us tell you that there are about 100 soldiers in a company of CAPF. The Commission has said that Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) of all states and Union Territories have requested for deployment of CAPFs for election duties like security of electronic voting machines (EVMs) and ‘strong rooms’.

Maximum deployment of companies in Bengal

According to PTI report, the Commission is expected to deploy a maximum of 920 CAPF companies in West Bengal in a phased manner. After this, 635 companies will be deployed in Jammu and Kashmir, 360 in Chhattisgarh, 295 in Bihar, 252 in Uttar Pradesh and 250 companies each in Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand and Punjab. Let us tell you that CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP, SSB and NSG personnel are included in CAPF. (input language)
