Entire North India in the grip of cold wave and fog, cold will increase further in Delhi-UP-Bihar

Cold wave continues, know how the weather will be

Most of the states of North West, Central and Eastern India are in the grip of fog. Talking about Bihar, a yellow alert has been issued due to dense fog in 19 districts of the state including the capital Patna. There will be moderate to dense fog in the national capital Delhi on Sunday morning. There is a possibility of partly cloudy sky during the day. There will be fog in many areas of Uttar Pradesh and light sunshine at some places. India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that many parts of North India, including Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, witnessed moderate to dense fog on Sunday morning, with no hope of relief till January 4, 2024.

Dense fog across North India is also affecting the speed of flights and trains. Even today, the speed of many flights and trains has been affected due to the severe cold wave. Especially the trains reaching Delhi are running late, while Delhi Airport has informed that many flights are also late.

Zero visibility was recorded in Jorhat, Pathankot, Jammu, Agra and Bathinda this morning. Visibility was 25 meters in Ambala, 50 meters in Bikaner, Patiala, Chandigarh, Gwalior, Jhansi and 200 meters in Amritsar and Hisar: IMD.

How will be the weather of Delhi today?


 

According to the Meteorological Department, there will be moderate to dense fog in the capital. The day will be partly cloudy. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 19 and 11 degrees Celsius respectively. The weather may remain similar on Monday also. From Tuesday, the maximum temperature will increase by about two degrees and the minimum temperature may drop by two to three degrees.

Today, cold day to severe cold day conditions were observed in parts of Uttar Pradesh and cold wave continued in parts of Punjab. There will be light clouds in Punjab on Sunday. The maximum temperature is likely to be 17 degrees and the minimum temperature is likely to be 6 degrees. According to the Meteorological Department, cold wave will prevail and the chill will increase due to dense fog at many places.

How will be the weather of UP?

There is a possibility of dense fog along with cold wave in Uttar Pradesh even today. Even on Saturday there was no sunlight due to fog. Along with this, melting is also being felt due to the cold wave. Due to dense fog, flights remained canceled in Prayagraj for the third consecutive day on Saturday. According to the Meteorological Department, the effect of western disturbance continues in the state and due to this there is excess moisture. According to the Meteorological Department, similar weather is likely to prevail on Sunday also.

Dense fog in Bihar, temperature dropped

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert regarding dense fog in 19 districts of the state including Bihar’s capital Patna. In many districts, there is a possibility of two to four degree drop in maximum temperature and increase in cold due to westerly wind. According to the information received from the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain at one or two places in 19 cities including Patna during January 2 to 4. According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in the capital Patna today is likely to be 20 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be 13 degrees Celsius.

It may rain in Madhya Pradesh

Dense fog is present in the districts of Gwalior, Chambal, Sagar, Rewa and Bhopal divisions of Madhya Pradesh. Visibility in Gwalior was less than 50 meters on Saturday morning. Visibility was 50 meters in Khajuraho, 800 meters in Bhopal. The lowest temperature of seven degrees Celsius in the state was recorded in Datia and Gwalior. The minimum temperature in four cities was less than 10 degrees Celsius. The mercury in Pachmarhi was 8.6 degrees Celsius. On the other hand, cold has increased in Gwalior, Datia and Chhatarpur districts on Saturday. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be rain in many districts of Bhopal division on Sunday.

Increase in temperature in Chhattisgarh

Due to western disturbance, a slight increase in temperature is being seen in Chhattisgarh. On Saturday, the maximum temperature recorded in Dharmanagari Dongargarh was 28.9 degrees Celsius, which is about six degrees above normal. Whereas the minimum temperature is stable at 13 degrees. There is a possibility of further reduction in it after two days. The Meteorological Department says that there will be no significant change in the weather for the next four days. The weather will be dry on Sunday and there may be light rain after two days.

Bone-shivering cold, fog wreak havoc in Uttarakhand

The entire Uttarakhand is currently in the grip of severe cold and fog. The bone-chilling cold has disrupted life in the state. A white sheet of fog was seen in Haridwar on Saturday. There was darkness during the day due to fog. Due to low visibility due to fog, vehicles were seen crawling at the speed of ants on the highways and link roads. The speed of long distance trains was also slowed down. Passengers remained troubled due to late arrival of trains like Utkal Express, Ahmedabad-Yoganagari Rishikesh, Amritsar Janshatabdi etc.

Chance of snow and rain in Himachal

There is a possibility of light snowfall and rain in some higher areas of Himachal today. More than 22 thousand tourists reached Kuth Bihali, Koksar and Sissu on Saturday via North Portal from Atal Tunnel Rohtang. Tourists had a lot of fun here in the snowy valleys. On Friday, 5113 vehicles crossed the Atal Tunnel, while on Saturday the number of vehicles crossed 5500. A lot of tourists have reached the state this time.

Due to fog, flights arriving at Jammu and Srinagar airports on Saturday morning were delayed by one to two hours and three flights were canceled due to low visibility due to fog. After the fog subsided in the afternoon, the movement of planes was possible as per schedule.

Due to the maximum temperature in Haryana decreasing by four degrees on Saturday, the maximum temperature in Ambala was less than Shimla. The maximum temperature recorded in Shimla on Saturday was 13.05 degrees whereas in Ambala it was reduced to only 13.01 degrees. Apart from this, there is a possibility of light rain in Tamil Nadu and Kerala till January 2. There is a possibility of light cloudy weather in Mumbai.
