PM Modi laid the foundation stone of Rangpo Railway Station.

Gangtok: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone of Sikkim’s first railway station at Rangpo. Let us tell you that PM Modi today unveiled more than 2,000 rail infrastructure projects worth about Rs 41,000 crore. This project is also included in this. Let us tell you that this railway station will be part of the 45 km long railway line under construction from Sevoke near Siliguri in West Bengal to Rangpo in Sikkim. It will have 14 tunnels and 22 bridges. At the same time, there is enthusiasm among the local people on the laying of the foundation stone of the railway station.

PM said this regarding Rangpo station

On this occasion, PM Modi addressed the people through video conferencing. In his address, PM Modi said that “The design of Rangpo Railway Station will be inspired by the rich culture, heritage and architecture of Sikkim.” Sikkim Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya was also present at Khanikola in Rangpo, where a function was held. Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya said, “The laying of the foundation stone of Rangpo Railway Station is a historic and proud moment for Sikkim, given its importance in the context of ‘Develop India-2047’ and its potential to enhance the tourism sector by providing quick and convenient travel options. underlines.”

Railway Minister gave information

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that ‘Amrit Bharat Station Scheme’ is the world’s largest railway station redevelopment program and no project of this scale has ever been undertaken before in history. Briefing the media about the ongoing work under the scheme, he praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for laying the foundation stone of 553 stations and inaugurating one station redeveloped under the scheme. The Railway Ministry had launched ‘Amrit Bharat Station Scheme’ in 2023, under which stations are being identified and selected for redevelopment in view of better passenger facilities. So far, Railways has selected 1321 stations out of 7000 for redevelopment. Many of them are in various stages of construction.
